A letter from our founder

WhywestartedMontra

Great software has always been a craft. It comes from people who notice details, who care how things feel, and who can look at a screen and know exactly what is wrong with it.

Agents changed how software gets built. They can write the code, but they cannot see what you see. They do not know what broke, where it lives, or what good looks like. Someone still has to point. Someone still has to decide.

That someone is you. The judgment, the taste, the sense of what matters: that stays human. What should not stay human is the busywork of translating what you just saw into something an agent can act on.

We believe AI should accelerate that craft, not replace it.

That is why we built Montra. You share your screen, talk through what you see, and Montra turns it into structured tasks your team and your agents can collaborate on. Humans stay in charge of the what and the why. Agents get everything they need to handle the how.

The teams that win with AI will not be the ones that hand everything over to it. They will be the ones that pair human judgment with agent speed, and lose nothing in the handoff between the two.

We’re a small team in Toronto, and we’re just getting started. If any of this resonates, we’d love to hear from you.
